Luxury villas in Amed.
Amed is a string of fishing villages on Bali's black-sand east coast, and the island's easiest world-class diving. Our two villas sit inside ABWonderdive, a working dive resort, so you can roll from bed to boat with your gear already sorted. Mount Agung fills the horizon behind you and the Japanese shipwreck sits just offshore. This is the Bali people mean when they say the island still has quiet corners.
Amed is on Bali's east coast, about 80 km from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), a 2.5–3 hour drive. Nightly rates run roughly USD 105–195 depending on villa and season. Diving conditions are best April–November.
Neighborhoods: Jemeluk · Bunutan · Lipah · Tulamben
Best for
Divers and freedivers first, then snorkellers, and travellers who want traditional east-coast Bali with Mount Agung sunrises instead of beach clubs.
The diving
The Japanese shipwreck sits right off Banyuning, the USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben is 30 minutes up the coast, and Jemeluk Bay's coral wall works for both first-timers and photographers. Freediving schools line the main road.
Notable spots nearby
Jemeluk viewpoint, Amed's salt-farming beaches, Lempuyang temple, the Tulamben dive strip, warungs grilling the day's catch.
Amed villa questions.
How do I get to Amed?
It is a 2.5–3 hour private transfer from the airport. We arrange the car. Most guests break the trip with a stop at Tirta Gangga water palace or Lempuyang temple on the way.
Can I dive in Amed without certification?
Yes. The resort runs discovery dives and full certification courses, and Jemeluk Bay is gentle enough for first-timers. Snorkelling straight off the beach reaches the Japanese shipwreck.
When is the best time to visit Amed?
April–November for the calmest seas and best visibility, often 20–30 metres. December–March stays diveable most days but visibility drops after heavy rain.
